You already know just what an opt-in list is, correct? It’s that tiny field that appears in many sales pages which offers an individual more details or perhaps a no cost newsletter if they will sign up as a subscribed new member or some other rubbish similar to that. While it might appear irritating and a total waste of valuable time and space, allow me to change your thoughts on them right this moment.

It’s really important that you understand precisely how powerful these boxes actually are in the wider scope connected with mass email marketing. These little boxes actually will double, triple, or perhaps quadruple your income if you utilize them properly. So, what is the essence of the opt-in? Well you have heard of marketing via email this is where you build some sort of list with individuals who are curious about your product or service, enough to acquire more information, although not yet serious about purchasing. Just so you know the particular opt-in device is exactly what creates this list.

Later, after the list is formed you deliver these individuals emails that present their particular need or even a challenge which they may or may not realize they may have, and present your products as being a solution. Although it might sound outrageous and even a bit tacky, however, you will honestly be amazed at how effective it really is. The particular lists that you form are also useful so that you can start out promoting additional products and services to that subset of consumers also.

Well, you simply need a super easy program that adds the particular opt-in system and then it will sort out and even manage the particular email lists that happen to be created. After that it enables you to input the messages that you want sent out, you can also select a specific order, and at a specific time interval, then it actually tracks the actual results to help you to be able to evaluate what email messages are good and which ones require more tweaking. So what at first appears relatively simple, will become some sort of intricate and extremely valuable tool for almost any serious online marketer that is always hunting for methods to boost his or her conversions on any of his or her products and services.

Why is the opt-in tool so powerful? Well, that’s a good question but unfortunately not really one that has a good complete answer. But I’ll take a stab at answering this question simply by giving you some of my personal ideas that could reveal the amazing performance with the opt-in.

To begin with it makes it possible for the consumer to be able to postpone making the decision about a product they haven’t fully considered. Sometimes they didn’t realize they really had to have the product as bad as your are informing these people that they do or maybe it had been only a fast concept which these people were looking into for the very first time.

Second the actual opt-in form usually provides the bait of free information, a free product or service or maybe a free trial offer. And you already know that men and women both love free stuff so this draws these people right in then it is all about time tested advertising strategies.

Now that you have their email address contact information you can email them every single day together with suggestions involving items that you believe they might want. Or you can just send every one of these men and women newsletters that include a link directed back to the original Internet site you were advertising. Regardless of how you choose to make use of your email list, you currently have an excellent income making device.

Whenever you use your PC, it either reads or inserts entry onto a particular spot in its system. Overtime, this process can accumulate and cause some problems which are hard to ignore. It’s because of this why you regularly have to scan and fix registry of your PC using related cleaner software. Continue reading to learn more about this. I will also be discussing a top quality registry cleaner software that speed up my PC quickly.

The computer has to remember a lot of things – hardware attached, selected system options, applications around, etc. Each time you use it, it has to go through all of these entries. However, there may also be invalid, missing or double entries. Such can be caused by anything from removing a hardware previously attached, to deleting a file or program.

When such happens, you will notice that the PC will begin to work a lot slower than before. Although it goes through all these entries in a very fast manner, still it may take some time if there’s too much to read. Eventually, you will also notice certain programs will refuse to run, and system crashes will surface more frequently.

Of course you can always take your computer to an expert to have all unnecessary entries removed. However, it may come with a steep price tag. What’s more, it’s supposed to be done periodically to keep your computer in tip-top shape. Doing it on your own is definitely not recommendable, as you can even cause some irreversible damages.

What you can do is to install and run registry cleaner software. This will automatically examine each of the entries made from day one. It removes safely and effectively those which are already invalid, missing or were recorded twice. This is a much safer way for you to do so, instead of attempting to manually remove entries which can cause the PC problems.

You may scan and fix registry using free software you may find online. In downloading them, carefully read the system requirements so you’re installing something that will work best for your computer. Also, see to it you get one from a reputable website. There are also those which you may purchase, often with other useful tools. I personally managed to clean up my computer by downloading high quality registry cleaner software.

Using twitter for marketing your business is one of the main reasons many entrepreneurs and small business owners are even on twitter. One of the single biggest problems you can run into though, is not knowing how to promote on twitter properly, or not promoting at all.

By creating promotions that drive traffic and create sales you can use twitter for marketing your business very effectively. As an example, I created a promotional series that brought in a 1231% increase in sales using exclusively during a 4 week period of time, so I thought it would make sense to share a few pointers, or guidelines, on how to use twitter for marketing with promotions. It’s one of the things that makes twitter such a powerful and useful tool for businesses today.

Follow these steps and you’ll find that marketing on twitter starts to become more reliable and easier:

Plan Your Promotion: When you decide to use twitter for marketing promotions, you need to take some time to plan out the process. The first step is to design an offer that will grab people’s attention and create interest in your product or service. You also need to select a time frame for your offer, laying out a schedule.

Make it compelling, even outrageous: The offer needs to make people want to click. You can create an offer with everything from a great discount to an amazing bonus. There are many elements to creating an offer that really works, so take some time to figure out what you want to include. And, be sure to create some kind of limitation on the offer, a deadline, limited number etc. People must know that this is a short term opportunity, which will help to compel them to take action now.

Make the Offer: It may sound like common sense, but a very large number of business owners and entrepreneurs using twitter hesitate here, thinking people won’t like them or will un-follow them if they make an offer on twitter. If you never do, you will find it is a much less valuable tool for your business. Far less people will visit your site, and people won’t pay attention to what you can do for them through your product or service. You must be willing to promote. And, if someone un-follows you, it’s OK, it just means they are not your prospect – you don’t need everyone, you just need some people who are really interested in what you are presenting.

Do it multiple times: Again, you may worry about putting your message out too frequently – and you can, if you don’t have an active Twitter account. The number of times you put the message out needs to be proportionate to the other activity on your account, or you’ll just be one of the people who is yelling into the crowd from a soap box (not the way you want to be using twitter). Ultimately, only you can decide what the right balance is for your business, but keep in mind that if you are hesitant or shy about putting your offer out, you are probably one of the people that needs to push yourself and make yourself do it more than you feel completely comfortable with. Conversely, if you are one of the people who has no issue whatsoever with making offers and telling people about what you do and sell, then find a few successful twitter marketers and model what they are doing, you may want to harness your enthusiasm a little bit and put more of yourself and the information you can share that will support your followers into the mix with your offers.

Keep this in mind: If you are concerned about making offers as you use Twitter for marketing your business, think about times when you heard about an offer, product or service from someone and thought, “WOW! I’ve been looking for that!” or “That’s Perfect for what I want/need!” You are doing your prospects and clients a disservice if they don’t find out about your products, services and special offers. So, create a special offer today and get it out there!

Artists are different. This has been true since cavemen began doodling on cave walls. Today it is a cliché to call artists eccentric or odd, and it bears repeating that there’s a bell curve to everything, so some artists are pretty much normal folks (pretty much) while others are, like Salvador Dali or Van Gogh, strange birds with weird ideas or psychologically disturbed folks who cut off their own ears.

The same is true in all media, not just for painters. Today’s so-called computer artists are simply artists who have a different palette and tools, with the same mindset as others, somewhere along that artist bell curve. If you run a business and have onsite artists, or deal with them at an agency or in a freelance manner, then you know that it can be difficult at times to communicate clearly. Artists are also passionate, for the most part, and can be quite touchy when it comes to people critiquing, not to say criticizing, their work. It is important, therefore, for non-artists to learn how to communicate with Information Age Dalis and Van Goghs.

The right vocabulary

The first thing that the non-artist needs to understand is that, assuming a certain standard of talent and training, an artist’s design is not good or bad. Art school instructors have been telling their Design 101 students for at least a century that the way to judge design is not by gradations of bad to good, but in terms of whether the design works. Does it do the job it is supposed to do? For animators, it means determining if the action is fluid and the story clear. For potters, it means deciding if the piece can be used as intended and look the way it should. For artists who design Web sites and print materials, it means asking, ‘does the design communicate what it is supposed to, and lead people (at least a reasonable number) to take the action you want?’

Most artists do think this way, and know that their designs have to be judged on whether or not they are working. This is the term that non-artist managers should use, rather than saying a design is right or wrong, good or bad. Some younger, less experienced artists may still believe that commercial is somehow tainted (by filthy lucre, as some say), but the fact is that much of the great art from the classical Greco-Roman era to the Renaissance was created for commercial purposes. Even the Sistine Chapel ceiling is, in actuality, religious propaganda, and conveys powerful messages in just the way the reigning Pope wanted at the time. Michelangelo, a paid commercial artist, made it work.

Constant refinement

Of course, what works one day, or for one goal, may not work for others. This is why artists will repurpose, refine, revise and re-do what they have already created, to keep pace with changing (commercial) needs. Mature designers that know all of this and have worked in the commercial arena for years can still be emotionally invested in their work. If they were not invested they would not be artists. They have learned, however, in most cases, at least, to set aside their personal preferences and make their designs work for the intended purpose. Because this can be less fulfilling than wide-open creative license, most commercial artists undertake other projects to scratch that artistic itch.

As long as they have other outlets for their so-called real work, even the most elitist artist/designer can make a go of it straddling the commercial and non-commercial (read, pure) art worlds. Not everything in their ouvre has to be judged as to whether it brings in money, and most artists get tremendous satisfaction far beyond a paycheck. However, reality being what it is, the fact that they can make a living with their artistic skills is a big plus. Still, it does take some discipline and occasional attitude adjustment to remain happy and fulfilled in a design position, especially at a firm that has no one who appreciates art and design (and where the right/wrong judgments abound instead of the works/doesn’t work dichotomy).

Bottom line

If this is all news to you, and you did not know artists and designers were so, well, complicated, it would behoove you to learn a new vocabulary and deal with staff or freelance artists in a new, constructive way. When they start hearing less-critical reviews of their work, couched in terms that are appropriate to the situation (like, “This works, that doesn’t”), you may find that they become much easier to deal with. You will be more likely to get site designs that work when you know how to work better with designers. Ta-da!

Text messaging is considered as the fastest and most reliable means of communication. It has gained worldwide popularity and has attracted billions of subscribers. Let us learn how text messaging was developed.

Text messaging or commonly called texting is the process of sending short messages usually 160 characters from a mobile phone. The latest mobile phones are capable of sending as much as 20 pages containing 160 characters of text messages. These messages are commonly called SMS, texts or text messages.

Text messaging technology uses an SMS gateway in order to hook up any mobile SMS service to an existing instant message service, Word Wide Web, PDA devices, personal computers as well as to any landline phone.

Some of the devices which have Bluetooth devices can connect to a mobile phone as a modem can also send SMS through wireless networks. SMS have been widely used with either GSM or non GSM systems.

Basically, text messaging intends to provide a means of sending message to one person to another no matter where they are as long as there is signal coverage from the mobile providers. This service is also used for automated systems primarily for the purpose of purchasing produces as well as services for mobile phone. Text messaging is also widely used in many contests.

According to some companies, the first ever text message was sent during 1989 by Edward Lantz, a former NASA employee. The text message was sent through a Motorola beeper. The message consists of numbers read upside down to read the message.

On December 3, 1992 in the United Kingdom, the first SMS messaging was used in a commercial sent through a Vodafone GSM network. The SMS message was sent by Neil Papworth with the use of a desktop computer. The SMS contains the word Merry Christmas which was sent to Richard Jarvis from Vodafone through a handset device model Orbitel 901. For the GSM systems, the first SMS using a Nokia phone was sent by an engineering student, Riku Pihkonen.

At first, text messaging has not been very popular since it was designed primarily to be used by the hearing impaired. During the 1990s only few messages were being sent through SMS. But during the year 2000, there have been a gradual increase in the use of text messaging.

As the text messaging system has been developed, it had gained popularity which has increased the number of SMS messages as well as a sudden increase of the numbers of subscribers.

Based on statistics, Finland, Norway and Sweden there are around 72% of the total population are using text messaging. In Europe and North America, there are over 85% users of SMS.

Among the Asian countries, the Philippines have the largest population of mobile subscribers who uses text messaging as a means of communication. An average of 20 text messages is being sent daily by a subscriber.

Because of this, the Philippines have been considered as the text capital of the world. On 2007 alone, there are 42.70 million people who are subscribers of mobile phones.Text messaging has been very popular in the Philippines because it has been a cheap and reliable alternative means of communication.

According to the Global Messaging Survey conducted by Nokia, text messaging has been proven to be an addictive activity. This has been confirmed by a study by the University of Queensland which is based in Australia. It has been compared to be as addictive as cigarette smoking.

Since text messaging has become very popular around the world, the text speaks or text lingo has been adapted as a way to type messages quickly. Text speak are abbreviations of words which tends to avoid typing the whole word which is time consuming. Another reason is that early mobile phones did not have QWERTY keyboards just like personal computers.

Nothing is more frustrating than using your MacBook Pro outside the home or the office only to find out that your battery is fast draining because you have actually overused or misused it. What if you have a presentation to do or an emergency email you have to send out and the battery of your MacBook Pro just died down? What are you going to do? Remember, not always will there be an Apple store around the corner where you can get a replacement battery.

Learn how to maximize the battery life of you MacBook Pro so that you won’t have to worry about it again, especially when you are somewhere without an electric socket! Below are some tips you should keep in mind when working with your MacBook Pro to prolong its battery life.

Every time you turn on your MacBook Pro, make sure that its battery is fully charged.

During Software Updates installation, keep them running as these updates sometimes improve the life of your MacBook Pro’s battery.

Once in a while, discharge the battery of your MacBook Pro – about once a month should be enough. Run it until it shuts down or outs itself to sleep. Then when the battery is already drained, plug the MacBook Pro to recharge.

Make sure that you use and store your MacBook Pro under recommended room temperature which is between 50 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Anywhere higher or lower than these temperatures might damage not only the battery, but your MacBook Pro, as well.

To minimize battery usage, keep the brightness level of your MacBook Pro to a minimum. The brighter the screen is, the more power the battery consumes. Also, turn off the backlight on your keyboard by using the F5 key to minimize power consumption.

Turn off the Bluetooth function on your MacBook Pro when you are not using it as it uses a lot of power. To turn off Bluetooth, Open System Preferences, click on Bluetooth, and mark as uncheck the box next to “ON”.

Turn off or disable AirPort (Wi-Fi function) when you are not using it. To turn it off, Open System Preferences, click on Network, and click on the Turn AirPort Off button.

If you will keep your MacBook Pro plugged in or stored for a long period of time, it is best to remove the battery. In storing the battery, keep it under room temperature and away from heat to prolong its life.

While you can always have a replacement for your damaged or dead MacBook Pro battery from Apple stores, it is still best to preserve and prolong its life to avoid any more hassles.

About SVC Host

Svchost.exe is known to cause high CPU usage problems. I’m sure you’ve been in a situation like this: you’re working on your computer and enjoying yourself when all of a sudden it becomes agonizingly slow and even starts freezing up. You press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, and see that there are several instances of svchost.exe running and one of them is using up 90% – 100% of CPU! Some people will think: “OMG! My computer’s got a virus!!!”. Well, that might be true, because some malware masks itself as svchost, but most likely it’s just Windows being Windows.

So, what does svchost.exe do and why is it there in the first place? Svchost is there to host services and run DLLs. You might have noticed that most programs have their own .exe files and can run on their own. DLLs are different – they can’t launch themselves. Svchost.exe launches them and runs them. You can check out the FileInspect Process Library to find out more about the svchost.exe process.

Now the question is how to stop svchost.exe from stealing CPU usage. First of all, you’ll need to find out which of the svchost.exe instances is the culprit and is causing your computer to slow down. Also you need to identify the actual application running it.

Luckily, it’s easy. There is a very useful free Microsoft (originally Sysinternals) tool called Process Explorer, that gives you detailed information for each running process. All you need to do is download it and click the .exe file – no installation is required.

Once you’ve got it running, hover the mouse point over each svchost.exe process and a tooltip windows with all the information needed will appear.

How to Fix It?

First of all, if the process that is eating up CPU is not a Windows process, kill it and uninstall the program that runs it. Also scan your computer for viruses and other malware.

However, most likely it will be a Windows process, such as Task Scheduler, firewall, or Windows Update. Sometimes simply restarting your computer gets rid of the problem. If not, try downloading the most recent Windows Updates. If for some reason you can’t, go to the Control Panel – Administrative Tools – double-click the Services shortcut (or click Start – Run – type in services.msc – hit Enter), find the required service, right-click on it, go to Properties and select Disabled from the Startup type box. You can always re-enable it later, so don’t worry. Reboot your computer and then go to the Microsoft website and download updates. Install them, re-enable the service that you have stopped, and restart again. Hopefully everything will be working now.

Another way to get rid of svchost.exe high CPU usage problem is to open the Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL), find the process that is causing the problem, right-click on it, go to Set Priority and set it to Below Normal (or Idle if Below Normal doesn’t help). Keep in mind that setting it to Idle might interfere with your networking services, especially if you’re at work and part of a large network.

Clean the Registry

Also if you’re repeatedly getting svchost.exe errors, cleaning the Registry might help. If svchost was malware that you removed some time ago, and you are still getting the errors, there might be some bits of malware left in the Registry. You can download a good free Registry cleaner from Auslogics website.

Online marketing involves embracing various strategies that can bring about brand awareness and customer loyalty. The Internet offers numerous opportunities to share product information. However, it is important to create a plan based on research to ensure ad campaigns are suited for your demographic market.

To achieve success with online marketing requires exploration of all available strategies and how they can enhance your business. While it is best to incorporate a diverse mix of advertising mediums, not all are practical when first starting a business.

After research is complete, the next step involves developing a written marketing plan. Considerations should include the wants and needs of the target market and the type of ads they respond to.

One virtually untapped advertising method is mobile marketing. Millions of consumers utilize their cell phone to access the Internet, text, chat, and respond to email. At present, approximately 20-percent of the 5 billion cell phone subscribers use their phone as a computer. Companies that want to take their business to a new level should consider learning the fundamentals of mobile marketing.

It is crucial to investigate Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines before engaging in mobile marketing. Companies must avoid making false claims or sending ads to individuals who have not opted-in to a mailing list. Non-compliance with FTC regulations can lead to expensive fines and legal expenses and may result in loss of business.

Podcast marketing is a powerful online marketing tool that can be used in multiple ways. Audio podcasts are a great way to share product information and company insights. They can be used to broadcast a sponsored Internet radio show or to present interviews with industry experts.

Podcasts are an affordable way to build brand awareness by providing entertaining or educational information. The secret to success is publishing new podcasts on a regular basis. Doing so can help companies develop a dedicated group of listeners who will share podcasts with others.

Another exceptional Internet marketing tool is online videos. The secret to success with this strategy is determining viewing habits of the demographic market. As mentioned earlier, many consumers view videos via handheld devices. Companies need to consider the size and duration to minimize bandwidth use while providing attention-grabbing marketing messages.

Lastly, article marketing is an influential online marketing tool. This advertising medium can be used to build a reputation as an industry-expert. Many business owners neglect article marketing because it is a practice that requires a fulltime writer. It can be advantageous to hire freelance writers experienced in SEO and LSI techniques.

It can be challenging to stay abreast of all available online marketing strategies. Business owners often find it beneficial to work with an online media marketing consultant. These professionals can decrease the amount of time required to implement ad campaigns and reduce associated costs. They can also help owners determine which techniques are best suited for their business model.

Share of netbooks at PC market has rapidly grown recently. They are more often considered as a future replacement for regular laptops that used to utilize before. However there is an inherent confusion as to what exactly a netbook is and how it compares to a laptop. Undoubtedly both of them have their own advantages and shortages. In order to make your life easier when choosing between 2 gadgets we have listed below points to consider before purchasing:

Size

What you surely feel in the first instance about netbooks is their size. Netbook’s display usually ranges from 7 to 10 inches whereas laptops normally start from 14 inches. This consequently makes netbooks much smaller and lighter comparing to laptops. They are so portable that you may carry them in a purse or small backpack.

Resolution

Most of netbooks currently allow for maximum screen resolution at 1024×600. Anything below doesn’t let you to view whole width of the web page at any one time. So the user has to scroll the page back and forth to read a full line of text. However most recent netbooks are usually produced to allow 1024×600 which is ok for comfortable surfing over majority of web-sites.

Power

The smaller size of netbooks makes them much more power efficient. So you can use a netbook for 5-6 hours without recharging batteries which is about 3 times longer than your average laptop. This feature together with an increased portability puts netbooks in a category of must-have stuff for long distant travellers.

Performance

Of course a size is not the only difference between these 2 categories of gadgets. The main shortage of netbooks relates to their weaker performance specifications. Lower hard drive speed, processor speed and graphics memory apparently do not add any value to the attractiveness of netbooks. Therefore running any sort of processor-intensive jobs like graphics, footage or video modifying wouldn’t be as smooth as it used to be on laptops. Even excessive playing of videos on sites like Youtube can also slow down your netbook considerably.

Keyboard

Another major complaint about netbooks is the dimension of the keyboards. If you have large fingers, you’ll find that you spend as much time correcting typos as you do typing. Netbooks generally carry scrunched up small keyboards that are rather uncomfortable to type on, making them unsuitable for note taking.

CD Drives and Connectivity

Netbooks usually do not have an optical disc drives – so that means no CDs or DVDs. Nonetheless, connectivity is a central focus for netbooks. All of them come with Wi-Fi built in and an increasing number now also have Bluetooth on board, so they can be connected wirelessly to a 3G mobile phone for internet access on the move.

Price

And the last but apparently not least point to consider is the price. Netbooks cost between $200-$500 depending on how fancy you want it and what you are using it for. The cheapest laptops start at around $400. With a low end netbook, you can get on the Internet, type and edit documents, and play some games that don’t need a lot of graphics to run smoothly. The higher end models offer more storage, more RAM, and more features.

A damaged hard disk drive is one of the most unpleasant types of hardware failure. No, I don’t mean that a burned processor or a damaged memory block are more enjoyable. Not at all – they are also disasters and in terms of money generally it is more expensive to replace a processor than to replace a hard drive but damaged hard drives have one very irritating property – you lose not only your hardware but also all or some of your data. Data is priceless and if you don’t have a backup copy of it, then you are lost.

However, not all hard drive damages are that bad. There are cases when the hard drive is damaged but the data on it is alive. So, if your hard drive crashes, don’t panic but hope for the best – i.e. the drive might have become an obsolete piece of machinery but at least your data is not buried inside. There are different strategies for evacuating data from a damaged hard drive and which one you can use depends on the sort of damage, as we’ll see next.

What Is a Damaged Hard Drive

A damaged hard drive come come in many flavors. In addition to that, there are many cases when the drive is not damaged but due to some reason the data can’t be accessed. For a non-specialist all these cases might look the same – I can’t access my files, so my hard drive must have gone off, while in reality the hard drive is perfectly OK but your data is unaccessible because of some prosaic reason.

Without getting into technical details, the shortest (and hardly most precise) explanation of a completely damaged hard drive is that this hard drive can’t be accessed with any means even by a qualified PC technician. So, unless you are a PC technician yourself, you can’t determine on your own if the hard drive is totally dead or not. However, since there are many cases when a drive is still alive but it can’t be accessed due to a variety of reasons (most frequently software issues) you can try some of the approaches in the next section and see if they work. Even if they don’t work, they will do no harm, but this does not mean you shouldn’t be cautious when applying them.

What You Can Do on Your Own

One of the cases when the hard drive is not physically damaged but is unaccessible due to software reasons is when the partition on which the data resides is inaccessible, or at least not from your operating system. In this case you can use an alternative operating system, for instance a Live CD with a Linux distribution and see if you will have more luck accessing the partition. This will work, if the partition table on your computer is not totally messed up. If you see that the data is still unaccessible, don’t attempt to mess up with the partition table because you can make things worse. Instead, hurry up and find a PC technician and pray that he or she will be able to recover your data for you.

Another case when the data might still be alive is when the drive has been formatted on a high level. If the drive has been formatted on a low level, the extraction techniques will not work because the data has been physically destroyed. There are many tools to unformat a formatted drive and you can have a look at the ones listed here: http://recovery-review.com/unformat-tools/. Most of the tools are paid ones but you can find free as well. Hiren’s Boot CD comes with a bundle of data recovery tools and I generally prefer to use them than any other tools.

Software problems are common but hardware problems – I.e. bad sectors or a damaged controller are also not an exception. Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do about them. If data is sucked by a bad sector, then in 99% of the cases it is gone for good. The 1% stands for the rare chance that you have made copies of exactly this file and the copy is not on a bad sector but this is really a lucky exception. You can take the hard drive to a service but it is unlikely that they will be able to do much.

Another technique you can try on your own without risk to make the damage more severe is to go to your HDD manufacturer’s site and see if they provide retrieval tools. Usually hard drive manufacturers provide diagnostic tools but if you are lucky, chances are that you will find a data retrieval tool as well. Very often the diagnostic tools themselves not only check for problems but they also can fix some issues, so they could help you save your data as well.

The above mentioned techniques to extract data from a damaged hard drive are only a small fraction of what can be done. However, many of the other techniques are more complicated and they do require some knowledge about a hard drive’s architecture, so I wouldn’t recommend you to apply them because you can make a lot of damage. Some of the techniques that require opening the computer case or messing with the parts of the disk itself are too dangerous to try at home. No, you will hardly destroy your home but you can surely further damage the hard drive, making it impossible even for a technician to help you. Additionally, you can void the warranty for the computer system, which is hardly what you want to achieve.

Take the Hard Drive to a PC Technician

If you have tried to rescue the data from your hard drive on your own to no avail, you have no choice but to take it to a service. A PC service has more equipment than the standard user and there is a chance they will be able to help you but still, don’t expect miracles. In some cases data extraction services could be free of charge, especially if you have bought the hard drive from them and the warranty has not expired yet but in other cases you will have to pay.

As you probably guess, fees vary. As a rule, the cost depends on the volume of data that needs to be extracted but generally it does not cost a fortune – you might be able find somebody to do it for around $200. Still, if your drive has serious physical damages, even if you go to a more expensive data rescue lab, there is no guarantee that your data can and will be restored.

Skilled PC technicians have more tools and techniques and their disposal. If you are interested in contacting a reputable company, try the service listed below. If you would like to learn more about hard drive data recovery techniques, here are two good articles: www.wikihow.com/Recover-a-Dead-Hard-Disk and www.networktutorials.info/datarecovery.html. Some of the information in these articles might be useful to diagnose the problem, but don’t even think of applying the techniques on your own. It is really risky!
